British inventor puts the UK back on the construction toy map

Company History
Thinkplay Ltd, Trading as Morphun
In 1996 John Mott, invented the new Morphun Brick. John is a serial inventor, who also invented and patented the ‘light shoe’ (with the flashing heels). He believed that the market was ready for a new improved British brick. The award winning Morphun square brick can be described as both a cousin of Duplo and a son of Mottik. Both Duplo and Morphun are the grandchildren of Minibricks. Mottik was also a British invention.
In Games and Toys of October 1962, C. Spencer the marketing manager of Lego ltd said ' It is the combination of the studs with the tubes inside.... that is one of the fundamental reasons for our success. Morphun bricks follow and massively extend this very successful philosophy.
Morphun started in 1998 with a range of advanced bricks, branded ‘Interlinks’. We are still often asked for more of this product even though the name was changed long ago to Morphun ‘Advanced’ bricks.
Morphun square bricks are the same size as traditional mid size bricks and are 100% compatible with traditional squares, but Morphun have added dozens more ways of joining the bricks, initially by simply adding a triangle brick. This made it possible to make far more shapes from the same number of pieces. Over the years, Morphun have developed and added side joiners, direction changers, short and long axles, and many other features to the original simple concept of studs and tubes. As a result, you can now make circles, curves, spirals and gears that are impossible with traditional sets.
Each year we launch both significant new products and adaptations to our successful ranges. For example in 2010 and 2011 we are launching the square ‘Brick with a hole’ that facilitates a whole new range of model making with new options on wheels and gears for our construction toys. We are also launching printed ABS bricks with Braille dots, branded ‘Braillephun’ so that children and adults with visual impairment can also learn to enjoy our games and toys.
Morphun products are manufactured to strict quality standards within the EU and all our sets have EN71 and ASTM certificates, that are regularly checked and renewed.
Our objective is to make our Morphun sets safe to use, more challenging, more exciting and just plain ‘more fun’ for children of all ages and abilities.
